Kool-Aid Dyeing!

My sister and I spent this afternoon dyeing the Cascade 220 I bought last week with Kool-Aid! We used 2 packets of Lemon Lime and 2 packets of Ice Blue Raspberry Lemonade. We used the microwave. :) Here is a bunch of pictures that my sister took while we did it.
We washed the yarn first with a tiny bit of shampoo and let it soak for 30 minutes.

It also dyed the wooden spoons we used to dissolve the Kool Aid but that will come out in the dishwasher. It is now hanging on a tv tray drying. :) I like how some parts of it are darker than others. Some little parts are white!

ravelry

I just got back from my trip about 20 minutes ago and now they decide to put Ravelry down for an hour so they can put in a new server! I can understand that a new server will be good for Ravelry but I've been in a car for the second half of the day so I'm a little peeved. Also I was trying to work on my sock and I kept screwing up. -.- But I did get to go shopping at Aeropostale today. I got a green polo shirt and a pink tank top and they were on sale for $5.99 each and this was in MN so no sales tax. pretty sweet!

For breakfast we ate at this Pannekoeken restaurant and I got a strawberry pannekoeken. It's funny because when they bring you the pannekoeken they shout, "Pannekoeken! Pannekoeken!" It was yummy. :) (a pannekoeken is kind of like a Dutch pancake)

In the afternoon we went to a state park. I forgot what it was called but it was really pretty and it had bluffs and a river. There were these really cute flowers on the side of the trail called Hepatica. It was 75 degrees in western WI and eastern MN but as we travelled back to east WI, it got colder and colder. Right now it is 51 degrees. I wore my bermuda shorts and flipflops and no sweater and I was fine. It was awesome!

Oh and my sister and I swam in the hotel pool this morning. I still think that's a stupid rule. They probably thought we were younger than we actually are because we are short. :)

hotel crap

I don't like hotels because my dad snores a lot while he sleeps and it is nearly impossible to sleep (for me anyway - I like it dark and silent when I sleep at night.) But the breakfast is good. They have a waffle maker!

The hotel we're in doesn't let children swim after 10pm. After 10pm only adults can swim in the pool. So we were at a wedding part of the afternoon and the whole evening and we didn't get back to the hotel UNTIL 10pm and last night they let my sister and I swim. Today the person at the front desk told us we couldn't swim because we were "children" which is pretty stupid because my sister is 18 and I'm 16. :( So I'm really angry and I didn't get a chance to relax in the pool after the wedding. :(

We went to a yarn shop today called Just A Little Something. I got a skein of Cascade 220 in the color Cream. I'm going to dye it w/ kool aid! I would have bought some Lorna's Laces or the Dream in Color that I saw but my dad probably wouldn't have wanted to pay that much. ;)

I finished my sock yesterday! It fits great and I just finished the ribbing on the second sock. I was too angry to work on it tonight and I didn't have any mindless projects in the hotel room. I left my nest tote in the car so I couldn't work on the straps. I also finished a crochet owl and a crochet ladybug. It has a head now!

Almost finished w/ the sock!

This will be quick - I need to go to bed hehe. Tomorrow is my blogiversary! I won't have time to post tomorrow because we're going to Rochester, MN for a wedding. That means a road trip which also means lots of knitting time!! I packed my sock in progress (about halfway done w/ the toe), my Elisa's nest tote, and some crochet amigurumis that I've been working on on the way to and from school in the car. It's a 10 minute drive. My sister has the little black eyes that we put on the amigurumi so some of my projects are unable to be completed until tomorrow. I had a headless ladybug for a while because I couldn't find my black yarn anywhere. Turns out I put it in my backpack last night. -.-

Wee Sock

My wee sock for the Wee Tiny Sock Swap arrived on Thursday but I didn't get a chance to post about it until now. It came from knitidiot in Florida! I love it because it has purple on the toe.

I lost and then found my 4th dpn for my socks so they are being worked on today a lot! I'm working on the heel flap right now because I decided to do only 5 repeats of the pattern instead of 7.
